Partners & Accidental Generalists

Justin Kanner (Cinematographer/ Editor)
Heather Roymans (Director/ Executive Creative Director)

By leaning on her background in concept development and his command of execution, these thoughtful partners are driven to find an original solve for your project both in the field and back at the shop. They are the jack and jill of all trades and lifelong students in a game they will forever love playing. From the jungles of Guatemala to the winding roads of California to the executive office of President Obama, there isn’t a set too small or an interview too daunting. They love what they do and it shows in the work they create. Heather & Justin formed AlterEgo in 2014 and are proud to be evolving along with an industry they helped shape.

Our Story

A perfectly complementary duality
Always both, and.
Never or.

Both feminine and strong.

Both individualist and team player.

Both Gen X and Millennial.

Both artist-at-heart and technical problem-solver.

Both driven business owners and thoughtful creatives.

Together, we are AlterEgo,

A creative content shop focused on creating the best work while having the best time.

Time in the field with explorers, game changers, trail blazers, and lovers of this life.

Time in the shop writing, editing, grading, animating, and making things just right.

For us, because we love it.
For you, because we care.

We are here to be your alter ego.

Your second self.

Your trusted friend.

Driven to win. We want to make you shine. And we won't quit until we get there together.

Harness creativity. Unleash greatness.

Meet the team

Monesha Lever is Vice President and Head of Production at AlterEgo

Monesha Lever

VP / Head of Production

With her cool, calm, and collected approach to tackling the unexpected, Monesha is our go-to person when it’s time to solve problems and get sh*t done. She oversees all stages of production while living our company values, standards and procedures. Her years of experience on the client side make her a compassionate partner and her background in producing means she won’t stop until delivery. Unless it’s time for wine. Everything should stop for (red) wine. Armed with a passion for exploring new places both inside the US and abroad, Monesha has been vital in building the live action production wing of the company. From wrangling cowboys in Texas to charting epic adventures through Guatemala, she cartwheels onto every set - ready to face any challenge with a smile.

Erica Kern is an Associate Creative Director and Lead Copywriter at AlterEgo

Erica Kern

Associate Creative Director

She travels the world looking for inspiration, plants trees in Baltimore City, and never disappoints when Halloween rolls around. Don’t let those youthful good looks fool you; Erica is a creative force to be reckoned with. Over the last decade, she has written and produced countless promos, penned captivating brand stories, and renovated numerous rooms in her 19th century home. It seems the only thing Erica can’t do is stay still. It’s that need for adventure that makes her fully equipped to handle any project that comes her way.

Rory Sheridan is an award winning Sr. Editor and Designer at AlterEgo

Rory Sheridan

Sr. Editor

If there were a “Slashie Award” in our industry, it would go to Rory. Editor / Videographer / Rock God / Father / Skateboarder / Bad Ass. The only thing better than his endless skill set is his always-down attitude. Need someone to pop into After Effects and play animator? He’s your man. Looking for on camera talent to star in your Instagram wine series? He’s got the perfect velvet blazer. Want someone to grab a drink with at the end of a long day? Uh duh! If you can’t find Rory in his edit suite, check the web cams at Seacrets in OC.

Nate Hoeft is an Emmy award winning Sr. Editor and movie trailer Sound Designer at AlterEgo

Nate Hoeft

Sr. Editor

Back home in Maryland after editing movie trailers in LA, Nate is loving the East Coast life, but craving a decent taco. He doesn’t believe in the term “rough cut” so every edit is laced up with sick music, dope sound effects, and the kind of shot selection that earns you an Emmy nomination within months of starting a new job. Maybe it’s the bottle of hot sauce he carries in his bag or the wildfire he acquired while cutting Game of Thrones spots. Whatever it is, Nate’s edits are hot!

Rory Sheridan is an award winning Sr. Editor and Designer at AlterEgo

Dave Nathan

New York’s loss is our gain. Dave came to us with a killer resume and an even sweeter beard. He has cut spots for Showtime, SyFy and AMC. Dave is a passionate editor who brings his gift for crafting great stories, long form or short, into every project. He also has a great set of pipes and is our go-to for scratch voiceover.

Megan Gygax is a Writer and Producer at AlterEgo

Megan Gygax

You can take the girl from the beach, but you can’t take the beach from the girl. Megan is an Eastern Shore native who escapes back to the sea every chance she gets. As a passionate word craftsman and multi-tasking guru, she is a key member of the Writer/ Producer team. We’ve thrown every kind of task her way and have yet to crack her sunny disposition. It’s that laid-back, easy-going vibe that makes working with her on a project feel like a day at the beach.

Jason Leta is a Sr. Graphic Designer Illustrator Artist Creator and Animator at AlterEgo

Jason Leta

Sr. Designer & Animator

One part designer, one part mad-scientist. No doubt you’ll know when Jason arrives to work. That’s because he shows up every morning on the custom Basman e-bike he built himself. When he’s not cruising around DC, he’s off exploring the world and bringing back inspiration for his next project. His easy-going personality and iron clad work ethic make him an integral part of our design team.

Hannah Testa is a Junior Editor at AlterEgo

Hannah Testa

Junior Editor

This Jersey girl moved to the DC-area to study film at American University and hasn’t looked back since. She has worked at companies large and small; editing videos long and short. But it’s cutting sizzles that ignites a fire in her and brought her to AlterEgo. When she’s not trimming and splicing in the edit room you may find her chopping and dicing in the kitchen, moving and shaking at a music festival, or feeding and walking at a local animal shelter.

Tyler Proctor is a Sound Designer and Mixer at AlterEgo

Tyler Proctor

Sound Designer / Mixer

Born in Pittsburgh but made in Australia, Tyler is a dual citizen with a multifaceted personality. We know him as a musician, beach bum, yogi, and bunny rescuer (hi Harold and Janice!), but are fairly sure that only scratches the surface. Tyler enjoys any project that provides space for audio to take a front seat, helps save humanity, or simply makes him giggle. As someone who lists laughter as one of his passions, he makes a point to visit The Comedy Store regularly and inhale all the good vibes that LA has to offer.

Francesca Faccone is an Executive Assistant at AlterEgo

Francesca Faccone

Executive Assistant

When she’s not managing our busy partners’ schedules you may find Francesca on the campus of the University of Maryland where she’s getting a degree in community health. Or you may find her tending bar at our favorite brewery (another Big Red Norm, please). Or you may find her writing poetry. In fact, the only thing it appears she doesn’t do is slow down. Guess that’s what makes her a good ambulance driver (oh yeah, she’s also a volunteer firefighter/EMT). It’s also what makes her the perfect addition to the AlterEgo family.

Carol Wilson is a Receptionist and at AlterEgo. We call her Aunt Jucci.

Carol Wilson

Retired but not forgotten. Forever on our Team. XOXO.

Shop Dog

A good shop dog is quiet but always ready for a belly rub. Bodhi has mastered the art of chill and is always available to share his laid back vibes when things get a little hectic around the office. When he’s not out on a walk, you might find him taking a nap on the rug in edit 1, or taking a nap on the rug in edit 2, or taking a nap on the rug in edit 3, or taking a nap on the rug in edit 5. Being a shop dog is hard work!
