Can you build upon an emotionally driven high concept piece that the talented in-house team developed for Lamkin Grips? It tested off the charts and will feature Olympic gold medalist and US Open winner, Justin Rose, and world long drive champion, Troy Mullins.

We Answer

We love winners. And we really love collaborating with the passionate team at Buffalo.Agency so our “hell yes!” came quite naturally. Their desire to push concepts in a strategic way is very appealing to us and a major factor when seeking out our partners.

Additionally, the products are solid, the media buy was smart and the spokespeople, sexy. Justin Rose, the perfect gentlemen and primo athlete with a soothing voice (can’t beat a British accent) and Troy Mullins, a bubbly bad ass newcomer to hit the scene. And hit she does--- 402 yards to make her the 2017 World Long Drive Mile High Showdown Champion. That is FOUR football fields. Four! (Plus 2 yards… not going to short-change this winner).

After some back and forth figuring out logistics and schedules, Albany, the 18-hole championship course designed by Ernie Els in the Bahamas was chosen for our location. With talent, location and time frame locked, we began our deep dive into developing the idea. From color palettes to camera tests, we spent the next few weeks carefully crafting our shot list and sculpting our kit for international travel. By using Google Earth, we were able to hone in on which hole on the course was most desirable at both 10a and sunset. This was crucial as budget and talent schedules only allowed for a 1 @ 10-hour day so we had to be extra vigilant in choosing our spots on the course. We were also not allowed to place c-stands or any shape objects down on the green. So all lighting was achieved using exclusively the sun as our main source with gold and silver bounce cards, mirrors and diffusion to shape light throughout the day.

By the time we boarded our flight to Nassau, we had all 40 MoVi shots planned for the day. As it is always a key component to the AlterEgo production experience, we created a shot-for-shot animatic which would inform every second of our ambitious day. In total, we created 1 @ :90 sizzle for a demo in Orlando and a :30/:15 to air on the Golf Channel during the 2020 PGA Tour.

The most talked about spot at Albany was the men’s locker room. It was equipped with its own bar, movie theater, and lockers with celebrities names like Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake!
